I started out as a kid dreaming to be a pilot. I knew I wanted to fly. My mom worked in the airline industry and that was all the exposure I had growing up. I consulted my family when it was time for me to enter college and back then, nurses were in-demand abroad; hence, Nursing as a course was a popular choice. I tried it out and I actually enjoyed it, especially when we started our hospital rotations and I experienced being in the Emergency Room. After graduating, I worked for 5 years in a prominent hospital in Makati City as an ER nurse and gained experience as a flight nurse for international companies such as CareJet. When I was referred to CareJet Assist, I took the chance and eventually joined them 6 months later as an official CareJet.
I am David Jason Garcia and I am a Case Specialist and Flight Nurse for CareJet Assist. By definition, I handle patients under CareJet and CareJet’s partners, managing end-to-end case of each patient, which includes working on their case reports, helping them get treated, updating clients, and when necessary, doing medical rescues and/or repatriation to transfer patients from a lower level of care to a higher level of care. I’ve been to around 10-15 medical evacuation operation flights for CareJet, locally and internationally, and it was how just how I envisioned my career – practicing Nursing in emergency cases and flying around.
I love the adrenaline rush and balance of working in the office and field. I am happy with my journey with CareJet. I work with a great team of people I can trust, learn from, and learn with. I get to travel, meet a lot of people, gain more respect even from my former colleagues, and develop relationships with widely-recognized doctors and experts. Plus, having better compensation has been great too!
I have witnessed CareJet’s genuine care in handling each case and each patient first-hand. CareJet always goes the extra mile. Despite the challenges and complexities, we extend all the help we can give and offer all the resources we have in order to render assistance for our partners and patients to provide continuity in a patient’s journey towards getting better healthcare. The most rewarding part, however, would be closing and resolving cases, and of course, receiving positive feedback and gratitude from patients for our help and the quality of our service. CareJet helped me understand whole process of handling patients and allowed me to practice my profession while gaining a different level of exposure in the field.
As a pioneer here in the Philippines, I feel that CareJet has enabled me to become a highly specialized and well-trained professional. CareJet has so many great plans in creating and truly “innovating the future of healthcare” and I’m glad to be a part of it!
